COVID-19 represents a significant threat to human health and economic growth. In this presentation, research from Bangor University demonstrates how monitoring SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of public health policy. SARS-CoV-2 concentration generally reflects case numbers in large urban centres and a marked decline was observed after lockdown. This can help inform both government and the wastewater industry in tackling the current and future pandemics.
